We recommend that you take a class or find an experienced carver to carve with. PLEASE be careful and buy a carving glove for your non-carving hand. We all have to start somewhere and with some tools and materials. I started carving when I lived on an island in the South Pacific and didn't have anyone to advise me or could I find a good beginners' book. When I moved back to my beloved mountains and bought this business I still couldn't find a good beginners' book. I have had the good fortune to work with Larry Green in producing a good beginners' book: First Projects. It takes you through most things that I had to learn the hard way and has wonderful illustrations and step-by-step instructions. We decided to put together a beginners' kit that wasn't very expensive and contained enough to get you started. You will add to your carving tool selection as you gain experience and decide what type of carvings interest you the most.  The Deluxe Kit contains the following: .
